Heavy-Duty Conversion Kit for Recumbent Trikes

The E-BikeKit™ Heavy-Duty Recumbent Trike Conversion Kit is designed for applications that demand more than a standard geared motor can provide. This system uses a rear or front direct-drive hub motor, chosen for its strength, simplicity, and ability to handle sustained loads without internal wear.

Direct-drive motors have no internal gears or clutches, making them ideal for heavier riders, cargo, and recumbent trikes that see continuous use under load. This system pairs the heavy-duty motor with a 48V battery to deliver strong torque and a controlled 20 mph top speed.

Configuration note: This kit can be configured with either a front wheel or a rear wheel motor. Rear-wheel configurations require additional information at checkout, including:

• Rear dropout spacing (OLD)
• Whether the trike uses disc brakes
• Freewheel selection

We build and dish rear wheels to match your configuration, but every recumbent trike is a little different. For this reason, we strongly recommend contacting us before ordering so we can review your setup and avoid fitment issues.

No battery mounting kit is included or assumed with this conversion. Recumbent trikes vary widely in frame design, seat position, and available mounting points.

If you are considering this system, we strongly recommend calling us ahead of time and sharing details (and photos, if possible) of your trike. In many cases, we can recommend or fabricate a battery mounting solution that works well for your specific setup.
